I have a large conservatory that's completely open to the house (building regs weren't consulted when it was built) and it's so cold in winter we can't sit in the adjoining kitchen.
The best solution appears to be fitting new polycarbonate sheets on the inside, against the existing ones, but I'm not sure where I can get all of the parts.
The existing roof is a 16mm triple wall polycarbonate with a u-value around 3.3 I think. I'm told adding a 5 wall poly with a u-value of 1.4 to that (and adding strips over the joins) would bring the u-value down to 0.8 which would solve my cold conservatory problem. But the quote I've had to supply and fit all that is over £3k, which I can't really afford/justify, so I'm looking at the possibility of doing it myself.
I can buy the 5 wall polycarbonate sheets online for about £400, but I don't know where I can get brackets to hold them up (they would screw into the existing struts) or where I could get thin foam bars to insulate the struts.
Has anyone got any information or advice?
Thanks
