Bother, bother and double bother. I have started looking at metal cutting machines and thought that a nice starter would be a Victoria Elliot universal machine (I’d welcome anyone thoughts of this sent a good idea).

Well, this evening one popped up on eBay, horizontal bars, vertical head, multiple vices and lots of tooling. All for £850 buy it now. Well, I looked at the photos, wondered what was the catch, being a bit indecisive, knowing I should push the buy it now button. Finally made up mind, I’m going for it......sorry your too late flashed up........ and it had ended!! So, if your the lucky blighter and the new owner of what should have been ‘my machine’ well done, I hate you!

They are a lovely mill from what I have been told. Does the vertical head have a quill? I renovated a Tom Senior M1 horizontal mill that came with the vertical "knuckle" head, no quill so you use the knee. It's ok for occasional vertical use.I then found an absolute bargain Tom Senior light vertical on the bay that had been listed incorrectly. Spelling mistakes inthe title and listed as 3 phase and imperial. Turned out to be single phase and metric.

I've missed a few bargains through procrastination or forgetfulness on the bay, very frustrating, but I have had some good deals too, more than I have lost.

Happy hunting :)

Cheers
Andy
