Hi all, I'm new to the forum having just got a workshop at last... I managed to pick up an Inca Euro 260 which had been converted to 3ph via a transformer. Trouble is all the connections were removed to put the transformer into the original housing. I'm looking to get this set up to run back on 240v but can't locate any wiring diagrams to show how to connect up. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

Thanks, great links and better than I have seen before. Still struggling to interpret how to wire up without the terminal block though. I've got 6 wire, two low voltage for the switch and 4 others. I've read that the motor housing contains a relay controlled by the low voltage switch but I'm at a loss as to how to bring it all back together after the last owner required!

Cheers Dave

I think there have been a few different types of motor and switch arrangement on these. I have a hoover motor on mine and an original (I think) NVR switch mounted in the throat section of the body. I'm happy to have a closer look at the wiring if yours is/was built like that?

You can’t convert a motor to 3ph with a transformer - it’s either a 3ph or 1ph motor.

Put up some pics of everything you’ve got, including the motor rating plate. We’ll get you going!

Got distracted by work this week! Now uploading some images of what I have and the rating plate - was definitely wired up 3ph through a transformer?

@GunieaFowl21 any pointers most appreciated!! I would just like to know which wires to connect where or how to work out which do what!!

Thanks Dave

Transformer? 3Ph in and connections to motor and switch were wired in here - i removed it all expecting to see a standard wiring set up under the box - no luck all original wiring gone and just left with those in last image!

This box had the wiring and transformer in and had replaced the original faceplate on the motor - see wiring that came into the box...

The ‘transformer’ is a contactor, used to provide no-volt release and possibly overload protection. They will often accept three phase connections as well. Given that it’s a single phase motor, the previous owner might have run it from a three phase socket and just terminated the extra wires blind in the contactor.

You’ll have to start again. Have you got a multimeter? Next stage would be to ohm out the various wires on the motor and build up a picture of what’s in there - I guess those smaller yellow wires are a thermal switch. You normally wire this, and the contactor coil, and any stop buttons, in series, so the motor only starts if everything’s happy.

Might be worth researching the motor model for a wiring diagram, ditto the contactor. The latter should have standard connection numbers but I can’t see from the picture.

Thanks GuineaFowl21, I realised yesterday after reading through other posts that might be the case! Sorry newbie to the control gear side of this! As I understand the yellow wires are a thermal control... I've found some manuals on the forum and these wiring diagrams...

I've got 2 yellow (thermal switch) 1 blue, 1 white, 1red and 1 black coming from the motor. There are 4 uncoloured wires coming from the switch. Now I know this is a contractor seems less confusing....

Took a closer look. Mine doesn't have a Hoover motor - sorry, not sure where I got that idea. It's actually a Leroy Somer, made in France in '92. The badge on my saw says it was made in '93.
