Great stuff Gidon - I guess the jury is still out on the nature of the first tools (seconds or what?) but this resolution of your problem sounds very good indeed.

Gidon, It does seem that they have tried to solve this to your satisfaction so well done to them. Hope you get that refund soon

Chris - no never found out why the saw were in such bad nick. I'm sure they'll go straight back to Dewalt. My corded larger Dewalt saw with the same silver finish looks as good as it do when I bought it five odd years ago - and my workshop isn't the driest place!
Andy - Toolstation have done their best I guess. I would still recommend them.
