Folks, I need some very clean edged half inch diameter holes in some thick, oak, does anybody have any going spare? If not I guess I will have to make my own. Thing is I have looked everywhere and can't find any imperial sized augers. I would prefer an auger to a flat bit. Anyone know where I might get one?

As usual, thanks in anticipation, and apols if this is a daft question.

I have a load of spare holes of various sizes but, unfortunately, none are imperial.

Indeed, metric holes are readily available, but the quality has been going down of late. There is nothing like an imperial british made hole for quality.

Get some from EBay USA or Amazon USA. We have them running out our ears over here - new or vintage. Whatever style bit you need in imperial sizing.

Do you need an auger bit for a power drill or one for a hand drill? Both are available, no problem.
