Note to Mods - Could some sort of reminder be posted somewhere recommending avatar size and more importantly image sizes? There have been a couple of posts recently that I have given up on due to image size making the thread very difficult to read.

Miles away - totally impractical...
There is a setting in IE6 (and, possibly in Firefox too), that allows you to get your browser to resize images to fit your browser window.

Agree that some images posted a bigger than they need to be; however, the above does help.

i think avatar size should be limited by the forum software (if thats possible charley?)

For avatar size (and sometimes content) the mods usually pm and ask for a reduction from offenders

Same for large images too (see recent Clifton thread)

The Image Size/Compression example page from a previous thread is still active if anyone has the time to await picture downloads on a piece of wet string. Not the sharpest of digital pictures as the original is from a video camera but they give an indication that there is enough detail in even a small file for video monitor use.
