Hi All
i confess to having been lurking here for a few weeks, so I've decided it was time to show my face again, in a manner of speaking.
I've been out of things owing to a major illness. I suffered from a cardiac arrest in Ikea in Bristol just after Christmas. By a miracle I was promptly given life-saving first aid, the ambulance arrived in record time, the paramedics stabilised me, and I was admitted to Bristol Royal Infirmary. In hospital I suffered another arrest and further complications and was under heavy sedation for several weeks. This was followed by open heart surgery (to replace my aortic valve) and a further operation to deal with a massive infection. I returned home eventually, and was very weak for a long time, but my recovery is progressing steadily.
I am now taking tentative steps to return to work, starting with light duties and reduced hours.
But the really good news is that I have been spending time in the workshop again. I have been fiddling with my tools (improvements, improvements), and am now making something for the kitchen. All physical activity, i.e. woodwork, has to be carried out under SWMBO's eagle eye. But I jest - she's been wonderful during this time. The bad news is that I haven't been to any shows - maybe next year.
Apologies for the long post, but it's nice to be back.
