Hi there,

I need help identifying this piece of kit, I know that I is kity... however do not know if it has a general name, or is made up of different components. If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated.
From what I can tell, the item is made up of a planer, table saw, and one other thing,

Also, I have some images of the piece of kit, to help with identification, however, cannot upload them, so if you think you know any info on it, or anything about the manual/s that go with it, please get in touch, so I can email you the pictures.

Once I have discovered the model/s of this I would like to obtain a manual for it, or its components, so if anyone could help with that too, that would be great.

Many Thanks

Zack

yep, another vote for the best combo, or its forerunner, which I think was the K5. if you do a search on here, you will find a few threads with pictures on. "kity combination" would be a good search to try.

Thank you all ever so much.

If anyone could give any general information on the combi, I would love to hear about it, as I'm trying to build up a good knowledge before obtaining an instruction manual.

Many thanks again,
Zack

Kitty's you are interested in are the white k5's or the later green versions of the "combi", all made by kity.
Well thought of by many, Including me, I have a 1979 k5.
Many joiners workshops started with one of these K5s and served very well.
Spares are all but non existent, but they rarely go wrong with bearings, belts, planer irons and saw blades all available
with a bit of effort.
I suggest you politely request, by PM Lons for a copy of the k5 manual, he has owned and used his for some time and
has a copy he has scanned and is kind enough to send.
You can get a fair example on flea bay, gumtree pre loved, etc for sometimes around £100. upwards for a scruffy white model and more for the green models.
Be aware, the biggest problem with any kity K5 or Combi, is neglect, rust and corrosion in some cases They seem to clean up all right.
Here's a link to a later white model

Hi Rodders,
Thank You very much for the knowledge you have offered, especially the part about where I may be able to obtain a copy of the user manual for the combi. Also, I'm glad yo mentioned the rust etc. as mine has a small amount around the planning blade, and on the saw table, so should clean up, hopefully.
I shall get in touch with Lons, thank you again for the recommendation

regards
Zack

I would not take any agressive abrasives to the tops as the factory finish on the tops was quite hard wearing and when you see it wearing through, it's done some work.
A gentle clean and waxing seems best as the timber stock tends to glide ever the work tables and it also protects
When you have 5 posts, I believe, you are able to post pics, If you are able (I'm not) please post and show what you have. Regards Rodders

Thanks, rodders, been a great help, I will take your advice, will try to post pictures, but as I found before, probably will be unable to.
Regards Zack

Don't hold your breath for much help from manuals. they are normally pictograms with brief trilingual notes alongside.
Another combination machine that it might be is a CK26 - I used to have one. It was a combination of machines on a table with a central motor. each machine had a number on it like 626 which i think was the planer.

Thanks Chas, I will, see what sizes my files were.

Myfordman, Thank you too, just like yours mine seems to have a central motor, and has numbers on the side, and the planer did have the number '636' on it, do you know anyone who may have an instruction manual for that also, I know you said they don't usualy off much help, but I am currently clueless as to where to start with the machine, as it has been sitting in my workshop for some time, and probably needs the blades replacing etc.

Zack

This is a link to another forum that I help run where we try and provide as many machine manuals as possible.
Follow the first link in the first post in this thread http://www.thewoodhaven2.co.uk/viewtopi ... =386#p3272
Select machines a bois (woodworking machines) and navigate to kity section there you will find the manual for the 635/636
The blades are re-sharpenable take them to your local saw doctor where they will do them for you typically about 25p per inch I think.
Re fitting is a matter of patience and youtube videos for the drag method (as illustrated in the kity manual) can be found. 2-3mm of drag is all that you need; any more and you will get snipe.

Thank you, I'm looking for a manual for all of the components to the product, but am unsure of what they all are, can you clarify what they are? also, is this the only place, as many of the instructions are in French?

You have a kity Bestcombi, It consists of a table saw, a planer, sometimes with a slot morticer table and a spindle moulder.
Follow Myfordman's instructions above and navigate to the site where you will see instructions in english on the right hand side.
And you can print off a copy of each page!

Thank you.
I'm sorry if I've been persistent with this, its just I didn't quite fit everything together. I am knew to woodworking, and am younger than many on hear, so sometimes struggle to pick out the information amongst the 'woodworking' talk/slang.

Regards
Zack.

Not a problem, newby's are always welcome, and encouraged.
Its the going round in circles that can be rather a waste of time.
The answer to you're original post, for a manual for you're aquisition is fully answered in Myford Man's post.
Follow his links and the manual is all there, In English, as well as French and German.
He has even made provision to copy/print off a full manual for you're ownership, Which is very useful and is typical of
Members here.
Myford man would probably appreciate a thank you for his efforts.
Regards Rodders

Apologies again Rodders, Thank you ever so much for your guidance.

Thank you Myford man for all your help too, I have found the instruction manual through your site, (for the planer) and it has enabled me to identify all my other components too. so thanks again!

Thanks goes to everyone who gave me advice!

Regards
Zack
