Hi,
I'm rather new here and I'm currently working on a project that requires me to get specialist advice from people who actually know what they're doing . . . so I need help.
I've been asked to make a jewelry box made from wood ( well duh!), hopefully I'd like it to be from a block to made it gapless but it doesn't look possible. It HAS to be laminated so if anyone has any great and useful suggestions on what woods to use, fillers, suppliers, techniques, tips etc I could use I would be very grateful.
If anyone has anything they think could help or anything I could use I would be grateful.
Thanks :)

what tools do you have?
whats fun if you have a band saw. is get a large ish block cut off a 6 mm sliver at either end then cut the two sides 6mm and the top then repeat this process except use the two sides and the bottom when you plane the joints and glue it. u can get the look again of a solid block but it lifts off to give you a compartment inside like a shoe box if that makes sense.

The facility I'm using has a band saw and band sander though they do have other smaller equipment.
It does make sense yeah, thanks. What joint would I use with that to get the best look and hold?

Roger thats exactly what I'm on about thank you very much! These will be very helpful
