On the way to my workshop this morning unfortunately hit a low flying pheasant that smashed my nearside headlight and indicator lens.

A quick detour via local land rover parts supplier (not genuine) and new headlight assembly (£12) and new indicator light lens (£1.12) acquired and took ten minutes to fit on arrival at my workshop.

So the question is how many other cars on the road would be as cheap to repair with new parts?

Not many I reckon!!

Certainly not a Disco or Range Rover.

The first line of the instructions for replacing the headlight bulb on my daughters Ford KA begins, 'remove front bumper'.

Doing it without removing it results in very sore and cut hands. I know from experience, still had to remove the battery.

we had to take our megane into the garage for one bulb because the thing was so tight to get to i could even touch it. the manual helpfully said to "take it to the main dealership". i think that was an indicator too.

I have just replaced both front wheel bearings and hubs as well as disc pads for my car
Parts came to £120 and it took me less than an hour to do

Jeep Grand Cherokee which is also running on LPG at 75p per litre second one of these that I have had and is used off road all year mainly on wet grass fields but it has been known to go and rescue some others and from sticker stuff  when the grouse season is upon us in Scotland

Er, my Defender, possibly?

Mine yew, they didn't call Joseph Lucas the Prince of Darkness for nothing!

We've a brilliant local indy. spares place for Landy parts, Christian Autos in Kingswood. Pete, the owner is really helpful, and if he really hasn't got a cheap substitute part (or if the Britpart equiv. is rubbish) he'll say so.

E.

PS: I think that Landy sidelights or indicators adorned the tops of some of the early Daleks.
