Not, of course, that I would ever admit to reading a comic like the Mail, but I saw this over my wife's shoulder (ahem) and thanked what ever Lord I believe in today that I didn't have to do this for a living.

Back in the eighties I drove a car through one of those, the road builders created a road tunnel. They are large, and I have got a knick knack made from some of that timber.

I still find it amazeing how they moved these monsters with just teams of oxon or horse. I remember somebody putting a link to a series of pictures about logging big trees, cant find it now. It showed a sled piled high with logs and a single mule at the front. Has anyone seen the log at the national history museum?

How sad, there aren't many of those big trees left.

There was an article about giant Sequoias in National Geographic a while ago, fantastic trees.
