I've just measured the diameter of the aperture in the cutter from my Sorby Hollowmaster [I would guess it's the same] and that is 5.1mm. HTH

Thanks very much for that Mike. I've used M5 for mine so that should be fine.

A word of caution Sorby uses a lot of different size bolts so the cutters are not always interchangeable, the only reason I can find for this is that they want you to spend more money, or am I just cynical.

I'm happy with the cutters I've made myself so far but I'll double check the bolt size if I decide to try any Sorby ones.

I suspect that Sorby might have started with 2BA (4.7mm) screws and subsequently changed to M5.

My experience is that all of the cutters seem to be compatible with M5.

FWIW, Hamlet Big Brother shafts and cutters are M6.
Does anyone know about the Crown Revolution's cutters?

Jon

M6 would also be ok as I could sleeve them if required.

Not given them a good outing yet to see how long they stay sharp but the 01 steel cutters certainly work well and only cost pennies to make from a 4mm thick strip of 01.
