I need to make a large built in wardrobe, but using the least amount of materials possible! See sketchup below:

Wardrobe TB 2D Graphic.jpg

There will be 2 shelves inside plus 1 hanging rail on left side, 2 hanging rails on right side. There will be a divider behind the central stile.

What would be the best way of fixing this to the walls - the left one is blockwork, right one studwork? Normally I would make a carcase(s) but wonder if there is a different way to minimise materials?

Is there a soft close hinge that can fix to the inside of the uprights, rather than the normal fixing to the side of a carcase .... I hope to do 2 pairs of doors?

Any other problems that I need to be aware of too please?

You could fix the front frame to the walls simply with angle brackets, or a full length batten.
For the hinges, look for some 'blind corner' hinges. These need at least 50mm wide frame to fix to.

Thanks for that. If I used a batten I could domino the frame to it and screw the batten to the wall. The left side would be quite easy as it is blockwork so could use some of these http://www.screwfix.com/p/timco-concret ... -100/98755 . They are quick and easy to use as you just pilot hole timber and blockwork then screw in, no messing with wall plugs. Just plug and apply finish.

The right side is studwork and I bet that the frame will not meet a stud  Wish there was something like the concrete screws that I could use for that side and the ceiling.
