How tight is tight ?

How do I know when the belts are tight or to tight on my table saw it’s a startrite table saw with twin belts. Thanks

+/- 1/2" on the longest belt run. Belts must be a matched pair.
V belts do not work by being tight. too tight and you will wreck the bearings.
Make sure they don't bottom in the groove.

Thank for that I have done them to tight then I’ll back them off in the morning. Every day is a school day
