I know how to write some text then post a picture, but how do I write some more text then post another picture, it's doing my head in!

Replies in words of one syllable, and no abbreviations please, I haven't got a clue about computers or iPads.

You mean you want to do this:-
attach.jpg

By Placing image inline by clicking the "Place inline" button.
inlinebutton.jpg

Then write some more text then:
Do it again,
attach.jpg

Hi Baldhead
If I'm typing a long screed I tend to draft it in Word and cut and paste it into the forum. That way if the website plays up for any reason you haven't lost it :( but can paste it in again.

Then upload your photos and click in the text where you want to place in-line each photo.

It's basically doing what Chas has shown above but with an 'insurance policy'

Regards Keith

Chas - I did as you say, it puts the second picture before any text.
Keith AES - I always use my iPad, it's convenient, I'm thinking now it's because I use the iPad, that's the problem.

Stew,
The problem you are experiencing is a PITA but is, I think, a design flaw in the forum software.

After uploading the picture, the cursor is reset at the top of the page, rather than where you left it, so you have to scroll down again to where you want it, click your cursor there and then place inline.
I can't believe that the software was deliberately designed to do that, but it does.

The only way round that would be loadsa cookies. You just have to look where you're typing.

I'm using a tablet* this morning, as I'm enjoying the sunshine in the dining room after breakfast, and chasing the pigeons off the bird feeders so the blue-****, etc. can get to them.

You can see the forum code is designed for the age of the desktop, but hey, it works. You just have to be careful.

Need to go work. Honestly.

Not all down to Forum software, it would appear from your findings that the combination of different browsers and operating platforms have an influence.

The above text and attachments were added in sequence without any additional re-positioning of cursor.
The only time I have to reposition cursor is if I want to go back and insert image in between existing text further up the page.

I'm using Windows 8.1 and I.E. 11. and Desktop environment.

Will check what happens when using Kindle later but have not noticed any difference with straight posting, but am aware that cookies and certain authentication tasks are handled differently.

Test using FireFox browser.

FireFox screws it up and places the image at the beginning of the text unless you deliberately reposition the cursor or type the text after you uploaded the image but before you click the in line button.

There is a USA forum I visit that won't work with my setup and I.E. but works fine with Firefox !!!

Just FYI gents, I use IE v 11 running on a laptop with Win 7. I always have to "manually" position the cursor to whereabouts in the text I want the pic/x to appear. It may not be the absolute best/most intuitive, but, as an example, it works just the same way when inserting a pic into a Word doc, so for me it's just one of those things which are a bit annoying until you learn it but no real problem once you know (and remember!) it.

A bit off topic now I know, but it's one of the reasons why I resist with "my max effort" all these blooming software update "improvements" - they are often not much of an improvement at all, but all the little "wrinkles" like the above pix positioning are often different in the new version so (in my case anyway) it needs another million years to learn the new, "improved" way.

OK, OK, I know, I know, I'm a (software) Luddite!

Rant over (for now) :x

I've done it, see my reply to rob39's post, Holes for tea lights in softwood end grain, in General Woodworking. I can't take all the credit, I've had an ice bottle of red and feel relaxed, problem is, I can't remember how I did it
