How much power do I need?

I did try a 1050w drill I use on my morticer (Bosch blue) but gave up virtually immediately hence this thread as I move upwards in size. I have hit the limit of the Axminster Trade lathe.

Good point about waiting for club, not sure what they can offer atm but felt it was more about technique over kit , but a great source of information I can tap into locally. Might do a course.

You will get advice at a club, of course, but you might even get lucky and pick up a lathe as well - people are always trading up and down.
