The great thing about this forum and threads like these is it makes you look at how you do things. So much good advice and hints. I have been cutting dovetails for 30 years but just tried a few different things which are really good particularly as my eyes are getting a bit worse and glasses are on the horrizon. thanks all

How long did it take me to learn how to cut dovetails? A double woodwork lesson at school far to many years ago. The teacher showed us how, then told us to get some cut. We knew that we would get clipped round the ear if we cut them wrong, as well as called names that are certainly illegal now...so we did them. Ever since then, I've been able to cut them as in this photo...

I made a cut on the wrong side of the line the other day and I started my apprenticeship in 1987. It was actually Melvyn Braggs fault as he was being a bit exasperating on the radio at the time.
