small hollow vessel 4" dia finished with DO. Its resinous eucalyptus burr and needs to be turned with some care as the resin veins have weakened the piece

Good to see a different wood species as far as we in the UK are concerned, simple smooth form allows the wood to speak without shape distractions.
 
Nice wood which is shown to good effect with the simple shape, I like the finish as well which suits this piece.

about what thickness is it turned to

I had to vary the wall thickness due to the fraglie nature of this one. So its about 3mm on top and 8mm or so on the bottom. As an idea of how porous/fragile it is, when I blew the dust etc out of the interior it poured out all the veins. :shock:
