Judging by some current threads, I thought people might find these helpful.

Here's my old "glamour shot"

On the crank, the disc on the left (carrying the pin for the pitman)
is permanently fixed. The crank shaft is held onto the two mount bearings
between the fixed disc on the left and the moveable,
grub-screwed flywheel on the right.

The pulley wheel is also moveable, and held by a grub screw,

I hope this helps with some of the questions in the restoration threads.

Thanks for the pic's Bugbear. Any chance of ones of the clamp areas too, please? Good clear photo's are a real boon if your saw has never been complete since acquiring it.

So that's where your booklet backup was? :D Great website.
Martin.

The restoration of my A1 is going very slowly as I knew it would due to lack of free workshop time but it is nice to have a copy of the original paperwork that would have come with the machine so many thanks for the link.
For information about the belt and it's adjustment that you asked on another thread there is a good site for fans of treadle Singer sewing machines that use the same sort of belt but not as big a diameter.
Interesting that they also use neatsfoot oil and the violin stuff on there belts and adjustment is very simple.

I haven't done anything with mine for a while except for derusting, and I really ought to get something done while the car is away until Sunday and I have space in the garage. Trouble is, when we get some decent weather and I can scrounge a few bob for petrol, I'm out on the bike. :)
