I know someone posted a similiar more general database - I can't find where though! But this database is also very impressive (to sad woodworkers) to say the least.

Beautiful. Shame it's only the American varieties, though.

These are from a wonderful book (called the Encyclopaedia of American Woods, I think) which LOML bought me for my birthday some months back. Amazon lists it as out of print, unfortunately - she found it in the shop of the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco when she was there on business .

Love that woman - it's a very heavy book!

Pete - agree shame it's only American woods - but then my local wood supplier only sells American woods so handy for me! Nice present from your wife - I'll need to give mine a pointers!
