Hickory Dowel

Hi,

I am trying to find somewhere to purchase 4ft long hickory dowels, I have contacted a few US based companies (I want to but around 50) and am awaiting info but was hoping there may be a supplier in the UK - anyone got any recommendations?

You can try plugitdowel.com but I'm not sure as hickory is a bit of a weird one over here.

I've had some hickory handles snap cleanly across the grain.
I wouldn't fancy using it for something structural.
Maybe try looking for some handles in your local agricultural place...
What diameter are you looking for?

In terms of appearance and physical characteristics ash and hickory are very alike. mbartlett99's suggestion of plugitdowel leads to ash dowelling at this link: https://www.plugitdowel.co.uk/wood-prod ... -dowelling

The company state that other sizes and lengths than their standard range (6 mm - 60 mm diameter) can be provided, which you might need to pursue because they sell 1 m or 36" lengths, not the four feet length you specified. Slainte.
