Ok how can i cut out a large Hexagon shape on mdf ps and draw it >im thinking of making a well for a wedding venue and i thought of three HEXAGON shapes and tongue and groove around the three hexagons and idea,s or videos
would be most appreciated thank,s mock
 
Start with a line on the mdf giving you enough space for the size needed. From the centre of that line, mark out lines at 22.5 degrees. You then mark from the centre point say 300mm or whatever size is needed along the 22.5 degree lines. Then join the dots and that will give you the hexagon. :)
 
Im thinking it may be 30 degrees for a hexagon and 22.5 for an octagon?

I use an app right angle triangle solver on the play store which will work out lengths and angles.

Thank,s for all the reply,s what do you think about cutting the shape out i don,t have a band saw..but have a jig saw and router ??? and table saw
 
Draw a circle and divide it into 6. A set of trammels or a bit of batten with a a nail and pencil will do.

Draw the circle, then start anywhere on the perimeter, draw an arc from edge to edge, then another arc from the intersection between the arc and perimeter. Join up the six points and you have a hexagon. Much more accurate than drawing it out with measurements and protractors imho.
 
IMO a table saw would be easiest, or a circular saw and straight edge. Use a factory edge as one side and cut its opposite using the table saw fence. Use the mitre gauge to cut the next and the fence for its pair and repeat for the third side and it's pair. A jigsaw and straight edge would do it though.

If I was marking it out I would use a compass or a even piece of scrap with a nail at the centre point and one at the diameter. Like said before, you just join up the dots/marks.
 
put a nail into a piece of scrap, and a second or a pencil at 16" (or exactly half of the diameter if not exactly 32"). Put the point onto a point on the circumference of the circle, and mark using the other point where it crosses the circumference. it should make one mark to the left and one to the right. Now move this point to one of your marks and repeat. one will be a new mark, the second will validate the previous one. I will do a sketch in a second.

hope this makes sense. You could practice easily enough on a piece of paper first at a smaller scale.
