Help! Wooden Table Top Warped!

Hi chap/ette/s,

So I have made a coffee table top out of wood by basically 7 strips of wood 1m length by 2.5 cm deep, width is 600cm approx.

I put them together using dowels and holes drilled and glueing. All was good, the thing is together but its warped, other than putting very heavy weights on this, is there anything I can do to get this thing flat? the slats are aligned ok so its not that, I know wood moves so there must be a way of dealing with this sort of thing?

or should I just make all the other furniture warped too so it all balances out?

insufficient information a picture`s worth a thousand words both would be good.
what wood? what finish? did this occur when you put it in a heated room? etc..
