As long as I am making something I'm not overly bothered what it is, at the moment I'm fixing the wife's new hob in and when I am free making parts to fit fork gaiters to my bike.

Sadly the smaller they are the more expensive they become - a set of 12BA (which I am looking out for) on offer at £127!!
Ouch!

Does this help? I've used them several times in the past with no problems.

+1 for Tracy Tools.

Note their standard taps & dies are Carbon Steel but they are quality products none the less. HSS are available too though.

Incidentally they're also great for headstock thread taps & in that case Carbon Steel are probably preferred for wood. Also thread chasers.

Agree about Tracy Tools - I often buy from them at ME Shows.
I was really comparing prices at Cromwells whose taps are UK produced. Presto taps are similarly priced.
And the fact the smaller they are the more expensive they become?
Folkestone Engineering sell Apex stuff £33/set and one on the bay that sells TWT at £28. Both HSS and UK made - I would not want to use CS for the 12BA size - they are minute!
