Where's it gone? I'm just about half way through a new long post (for the General metalworking section as it happens). Sorting out bits of text & various pix, I stopped half way through and saved as DRAFT.

Now how do I get my draft back again please? I can't find it anywhere!

TIA

Thanks phil.p for trying, but I still can't make it work (that's just dummy me I guess).

As I had most of the text already in word I'll just start again.

As phil says but you need to 'start a new topic' in the same forum as the draft was created. So if it was metalwork, go there, click the start a new topic button as if you were starting a new topic and you should then have a load draft button next to the save draft button in the usual place.

Very rarely do I post anything without writing it out in a text editor first, then copying & pasting it into the forum. That way, I always have a copy on my PC to fall back on. Once the post is visible I can delete the text in the editor.
If you're using Windows, Notepad or if you need a few more options, Wordpad is built in.
There are at least 100 freeware Windows text editing programmes to choose from.
If I'm adding photos, then I have them ready in a folder, pre-sized & the properties & personal information removed, from where I can place them where I want them in my post.
Possibly there are shorter ways to achieve the same end.
I'm guessing that I'm gonna get the blame for all your hard work. :)

The forum software can be frustrating and a bit **** at times, like Robbo3 I 'save/copy' a copy first......then it's easy to overcome the intermittent failings..............but you only remember to do it once it's failed at least once!

Thanks for all your help Gents, it's much appreciated. I'm trying to get my original draft back now, but just as Robbo3 and monkeybiter say, I do usually have a draft saved in Word saved on my own PC. The problem of course is sorting out the pix and diags - to go where exactly? And the fact that although you may put the pix into the original word draft you have to do it all again on line when preparing the post. Plus this time, by the time I'd reduced the size of the pix and diags I wasn't all that satisfied with some of them. Still, I'll get there - "in the end" (don't hold yer collective breffs)!

And Robbo3, YES, you ARE the reason for all this (!!!!! (hammer)), but the way I look at it, it may help someone (I've had lots of help from UKW), AND you did ask me - I could have said NO but chose not to (of my own free will)!

Later .................
