Hi everyone just signed up to the site.
I like to have a go at doing things myself if possible to save a bit of money. The end result is normally pretty good apart from the back patio disaster a few weeks ago. Laying a patio is harder than it looks.
Anyway the reason im here is that iv just bought a couple of oak sleepers to make a basic chunky flush edged fire surround and i have no idea what to finish the wood in. I like the look of the beams you see in fire shops that have a kind of polished waxy look to them but still retain the woods natural character. Any help on what product i need and how to apply it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
danny
