I wonder whether anybody is based near to Lichfield/Tamworth could help a friend of mine. He has a couple of jobs, one of which is certainly well beyond me.
The first is to reduce the length of a table. It is (I believe) veneered and inlaid. I don’t know any more detail than this.
The second is an oak kitchen table, which he tells me has a shellac finish and has had nail varnish remover spilled on it. The top needs stripping and refinishing. I don’t know whether it is French polished, or brushed on shellac.
Obviously it needs somebody to go and look at the job, discuss what he needs doing, agree a price etc. My end of the favour is to try and assist him finding a cabinetmaker, rather than going blindly through the yellow pages.
