A fellow member of a facebook group posted the attached images. I thought the combined brainpower of this group might be able to come up with an answer. It beats me.
"A fellow woodworking friend of mine has had this for 30 years and isn't sure what it's for. What is it? The iron is about 11 inches long and has to be close to 3/4" in diameter; doesn't move. The wire or whatever through the holes I'm not quite sure if it is part of the tool or remnants from whatever it was designed to do."
