iam restoring a drill in theory the spindle is meant to have a Jacobs 33taper on the end or so I believe.
the chuck has had it so I need to replace it. I have measured the small diameter and the length and the large diameter. small diameter is 15.85mm large diameter is around 17mm length is around 24mm.
the only thing I can see anywhere near it is a jocobs no 6 taper. unless anyone else has any other ideas?

Arceurotrade has a handy table for ID'ing Jacobs tapers. They also sell decent budget chucks.

Have you examined the markings on the existing chuck? Just had a look in my chuck drawer and they all have the taper and capacity stamped somewhere on the body, even the vintage ones.
Bob.
