Specially designed for the purpose, a few really good instructional vids on youtube, some light flame takes away the bubbles at the drying stage is a neat tip from one of them.
Tiranti are a good source for resin(polyester and epoxy) they have pigments and stone and metal powders too. If the epoxy gives off heat as it cures it will cause air in the wood to expand ,giving rise to bubbles. I got good results with epoxy warming the wood first - this made the resin flow out better and speeds up curing too.
