Hello!

I've just registered and thought I would say hello! (I didn't spot an introductions board, apologies if thee is one that I have missed!)

I have just recently developed an interest in woodworking after building a couple of pieces of rudimentary cat furniture for our spoiled moggies. I am wanting to step up from butt-joints and an over-reliance on screws & wood glue and start using proper joints and putting the emphasis on finesse, rather than speed.

My latest project is a bit silly, but it's fun and I am enjoying it. I am building a racing cockpit for my gaming console. It's early days so far, but I am already getting the hang of halving joints for the framework. Unfortunately as I am on a strict budget, the quality & consistency of the timber I am using is far from ideal - reclaimed pallets - But I figure it's good enough for a 'starter project'.

I am writing a blog of the build if anybody would be interested in having a look, but I assure you that spamming links to my blog is not why I registered here!! I am looking forward to learning some good info from you guys and hopefully contributing at some point too.

Welcome jb2_86_uk
There is a lot of knowledge here, if you can get some of the folks to part with it.

Making things out of pallets is good practice.

Just remember, someone on this forum knows the answer. Keep asking.

Welcome
im new here also, but if you want an answer to a question and can't get it here then you will never get it. I have found this place an amazing place for anything to do with woodworking. You only have to look back through the forums to see that the knowledge on here is second to none. And people seem to be very friendly and happy to help anyone new or old with even the smallest of issues.
