Hi John, welcome to the forum, I don’t post much but keen to read the hints and tips,
I’m about an hour from you just over the Tamar, in Seaton , Cornwall.

I have walked around the coast path as far as Seaton in Devon. Did not know there was one near Saltash as well.

Yes, small village about 4 miles east of Looe.

Furthest west i have walked recently, 2019, is southern Dartmoor. There are some nice views from there of a large part of the south coast of Cornwall.

Its a nicer walk up the footpath beside the Morrisons. Starts from the main road just east of entrance to the little industrial estate. you can also get onto the path from the Morissons carpark. But at the top just before the gate onto the road there has been a puddle when I have been there.
