Well it's about time I said hello to you all - so Hello!
I actually joined the site almost two years ago, and it has been immensely useful to me just reading the posts, and being able to search old messages. I'm already way down the slope and sliding fast.
I feel as though I know most of you on first name terms already because I've been reading for so long, so I apologise in advance if I seem overly familiar.
Me? - I'm self employed, mainly installing kitchens and bathrooms, but plumbing, electrical, tiling etc the whole package from start to finish, and I've always done woodwork as part of my job, doing custom stuff as necessary.
I'm in the middle of a complete house renovation just now for a long standing customer, but as good as that sounds, it's a pain in the backside as I've had to turn too many jobs away as I'm tied to it until its finished (5 months now and counting) - and I wish I had never started it - but money is money and I needed it at the time.
More recently, I've been doing more specialised architectural stuff, panelling, doors, sash windows etc and that's where I'm at just now (or will be when I've finished the renovation), changing direction slightly so I can work with wood full time from a workshop, as opposed to working out of a van. I can work from my garage short term, but plan to get a small unit in the next year to 18 months if all goes well.
Hopefully I can maybe give some input here now too!
