Hard Wax Oil over India Ink

I'm working on a black dyed high gloss ash cane. Osmo hard wax oil has given me the finish I want for other canes so I'm inclined to go the same route. I have noticed though that the India ink comes off on my hands a little. Does it need sealing before the osmo? I was wondering about shellac as a sealant layer before the Cosmo.

I used Osmo on this little table after staining the legs with Indian ink.

During the first coat of Osmo I noticed the cloth had a little black in it but the next coat went on fine. I would say that you don't need to seal it
