I used to work with Van the Man's aunt...hilarious, mock-caustic insights into her family in general and him in particular! There is such a rich vein of down-to-earth Belfast common sense and basic values here in East Belfast that they can gently mock their own idiosyncracies without offence, drawing everyone closer in shared laughter. 'Banter' or the much mis-spelled 'crack' ("craic", possibly politically-correct to avoid drug overtones?) doesn't begin to adequately describe it. It's no wonder Yer Man' s imagination and word play came out as it did.

Sam, remembering thirty five years ago, being played 'Astral Weeks' as part of his musical awakening by a good buddy.

I remember buying Astral Weeks on the recommendation of some friends - I thought it that boring I gave it away. Never liked him since.
