Who was it, from this forum, that made a Hans Wegner chair? Was it Derek Cohen, or Chris Tribe? Or maybe both!
Anyhow, this months Furniture & Cabinetmaker reports from Bonhams New York furniture auction. Four (from a set of eight) Wegner chairs made in 1971 sold for $10,700, and four "Cowhorn" Wegner chairs from 1970 sold for $13,825.
More evidence of the relatively strong market for mid century Danish design.
But the reality for the great majority of antique or vintage furniture was summed up by the prices realised for some Emile Galle pieces from about 1900, the prices were maybe half of the reproduction cost...so no incentive for any fakery there!
