Hand planes

I've been trying to buy a toothing plane for some time, but unfortunately every one I bid on either goes stupid expensive or I get beaten in the last second, so I thought I may have a go at making one for myself.
Does anyone know of any plans available to help or have any useful info for me?

If you want it to dispose of cantankerous grain - fast, and you are already posessed of a Record / Stanley Bailey type plane, Dictum (formerly Dick Gmbh) in Germany sell a range of toothed bevel down blades that will fit conventional metal planes.

They are made by Kunz. Measure the width of the existing Stanley / Record, then convert to millimetres to get the right size.

Don't be put off by the German front page - the rest is in English.
Delivery is about 5 - 6 days direct from the Fatherland to deepest Wales.
They are a straight swap for your ordinary blade and avoid the hassle of metal work.
I have a couple and they work fine.

A quick view of complete auctions on the 'bay shows planes at 25-30 quid, blade at 10-15.

Axminster list toothed replacement blades for Lie-Nielsen 4's and 5's. Not cheap at £56-50 a pop, though.
