Hi Andy

Just received issue 151 and I would just like to say that I found the format of your group test on the 18v Combi drills to be excellent.

For me, it was really interesting to know how you conducted the testing and also the test results. It was amazing to learn that one drill managed 121 7mm holes in masonry whilst another managed just 36.

Well done. I loved it.

Cheers
Neil

PS Have you stopped vibrating yet?

How come you always get your copies a day or two earlier than me? Are you on a "special" subscribers list? :x

Adam

Adam

A day or two would be nice, I appear to be a week and half behind, got 150 a day before it was in the shops. :?

If Neils comment is true I am glad my jewish blood is on mums side

Hi Dave
As I understand it, if your Jewish blood wasn't from your Mothers side then you wouldn't have any Jewish blood. :)

All the best

John

I got mine this morning; dunno if that contributes to the alphabetical theory or not. For preference I'd favour a more Alfabetical system... (grone, grone, grone)

Cheers, Alf

Hi All,

Dave, snap so did i. The thing is issue 150 was the start of my subscription and the only reason i went for a subscription was because they claimed that i would receive it early.
It is now the 3rd and issue 151 comes out on the 6th and i still haven't received it. I think that i will go back to buying at the newsagent as and when i want to.

Regards

Mike.C,

I don't have mine yet, but I can offer a reason for yours being later, just look at the extra distance that pigeon has to fly to get it to you.

Hi Dave,

I ordered a set of router bits from Rutlands on Monday morning and i received them on Tuesday. I also ordered various jap hand saws from Axminster on Thursday and received them on Friday morning. So you are trying to tell me that they cannot get a magazine to Scotland overnight.

If they can get it to others a reasonable time before it hits the shops then they should be able to do the same for those of us that live in Scotland. Unlike above we are not talking about a parcel here, these are not delivered by pony express but by the postman and so they should take the same time as any other letter.

Regards

Mike.C

Hi Mike

Assuming the C in Mike C is the first letter of your surname, it probably blows my alphabet theory.

Having said that it will be worth waiting for, I think it's probably the best issue of GWW that I've skimmed through. I didn't have time to read it properly as I am at work now.

Cheers
Neil

Hi Neil,

Alphabet theory i really don't know about that. I may get it on Monday.

I'm glad to hear that it is a good issue and I look forward to reading it.

You should have taken it to work with you.

Cheers Neil.

WelL I just came in from sawing fire wood as the heavens had opened and the postman has brought GWW 151. Suppose I should go back outside but.................

Mike.C,

I find the post a bit of a shambles  We used to have a postal service that the rest of the world tried to copy, not anymore :(

I only got my subscription as a Christmas present and wonder if the mailing is done on the date joined  which means Neil must of presubscribed judging by how early he gets his copy

Sorry folks but mine arrived this morning, too.
I reckon there must be a stack of these magazines just sitting around waiting for someone to pick them up and take them somewhere.
It happens with other magazines and information that we should get here at the same time as friends in Essex get their copies. They receive theirs a week or two in advance of us sometimes!!
I thought the alphabet had a bearing on it at first but that theory is wearing a bit thin now!
One of life's mysteries, perhaps?
Cheers.

Most magazines have no control over how their issues are mailed - it's usually sub-contracted to a specialist mailing company. Future (publishers of GWW) may be different - I seem to remember they used to have an army of Somerset 'homemakers' frantically stuffing envelopes :).

It may be that the mailing is done not by subscriber alphabet, but by postcode alphabet. But once it's out of the hands of the mailing house and into the tender mercies of the Royal Mail, all bets are off .

Its not done by alphabet or date joined , the guy who delivers them goes to the closests ones first .I've seen him cycling all over and i know scotland is way down on his list poor bloke must be knackered

The general principle is that our contract with the mail house that handles GW specify that the mag will be delivered within a certain number of days (I think 7) from the moment they get it. It generally is dealt with speedily at this point but then gets into the hands of the Royal Main (or whatever it's called this morning) and then is delivered at the whim of a subscriber's local sorting office. The final date that the mag should be received by a subscriber should always be in advance of the On Sale date, though of course the exact date may vary depending on how many mountains there are between you and the sorting office :D
