I have been offered a load of Beech from a neighbour who has cut a tree down. It's in Log form not much more than 3'6" Dia. 12" to 20"

Is it worth my time. I have never used beech that has not been prepared. Will it be much hassle? What should I do with it if anything. If I can dry it and cut it, I can certainly use it but it's not someting I have done before.

Also I know beech is a carcinogen, how bad is it and should I just avoid Beech?

Hi Steve

I've tried something similar in the past with birch and it's an awful lot of trouble if you don't have some very serious cutting equipment. If there's a sawmill near you they might cut and kiln-dry it for you at a reasonable rate.
