We live close to the construction of the South Devon Link Road Project, a large civil engineering project to build a major road to improve access to Torbay for all those holiday makers to get to the sun quicker.

Part of the project involves a big culvert for flood alleviation for Kingskerswell and Keyberry which was due to take place later in 2014. It would have meant closing the railway line but when the storms at Dawlish closed the line anyway it was rescheduled at short notice and completed in March.

Galliford Try the constructors have put together a time lapse video of the 160 hours work compressed into 4 minutes which you can see at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leV0AwV ... e=youtu.be. Worth a look if you like watching big machines and lots of men delivering another Great British Engineering feat .

Regards Keith

Thanks for video Keith. It brings back some fond memories of my working life in Civil Engineering. Culverts such as this are usually straightforward but the contractor still has to work fast and efficiently, as well as keeping to a tight spec, to show a profit - not easy. Hopefully Galliford Try made money.
