I'm looking for a lid stay for a toy chest I'm making. I want one that will hold the lid in ANY position, to stop it falling on little fingers/heads, not just lock it open.

I can find such stays on many a USA hardware site, but can I find one in the UK...... :( They all to be spring loaded. I think it's law over there that such stays must be fitted to toy chests.

(Isaac Lord may have something that would do but I don't care to pay £7.50 p&p for a £3 item  )

Anyone seen such an item in the UK :?:

I've just looked in my woodfit catalogue & there are a number of lid stays with adjustable braking action that might not allow locking in any position, but should at least slow down the descent of any lid to an acceptable pace.

They cost between approx £5 & £10 each though

Woodfit are a good firm to deal with, as are Isaac Lord. They do charge for their full catalogue though, but it is well worth it. Why not have a look at their site http://www.isaaclord.co.uk

I think that's a small price to pay to protect little fingers :D
