A friend of mine recently gave me a fair amount of Sapele. Was there anything I could make for him? I asked. He said he would like a clock similar to one which I had made for myself.
I already had a Westminster chiming movement that I had purchased from a local auction.
Here is the result.

I put shelves in the centre section for books and a door on the bottom for more storage.

Looks great! =D>
One of these is on my "to do list" one day.
Can I ask where you got your clock dial/chapter ring from and how much it cost?
Cheers.

Hi roughcut, Thanks for the comment. Got the dial off Ebay Have used them before. Type in 250x250 clock dial with cast spandrels and up it should come. cost £22-99 and £2-75 P&P.

Very nice, I like the idea of the shelves, a different style bookcase! Is the movement 'tick' noisy? A carriage clock has been on my 'to do' list for sometime but SWMBO works shifts and I think a loud clicking clock would end up in the shed.

baldhead asked,

Is the movement 'tick' noisy?
With my clock you don't notice the tick during the daytime, however the chimes are a little offputting when striking 10 and you are trying to listen to the news headlines on tv. When my daughter comes to stay chimes have to be switched off as she sleeps in the room above the clock and says it wakes her every hour.
