Hi everyone,
I recently bought a second hand Graduate bowl lathe, and am trying to source bits and pieces as economically as possible. I have been looking on ebay and have seen faceplates with starting bids of £15 to £20, plus carriage costs of £5 - £7. I'm not sure what they eventually sell for, but if anyone is interested then check this out. Axminster currently sell a backplate for their super precision chuck for £26.75. I'm not sure of the size, I would guess about 3-4", but they are brand new, threaded right and left (so much more versatile than the ebay ones I've seen) and post free if you're placing an order anyway. If they are too small, then you could always mount a larger disc of ply or similar.
I haven't actually bought one - I'm saving my pennies for a Goliath chuck and O'Donnell jaws which will be more versatile, albeit SLIGHTLY more expensive, but if you need a faceplate, then could this be an economical alternative?
