Hello,
I was wondering if any of you can help me please. I'm building a Dobsonian telescope and I've got the wooden design sorted out, but I'm struggling to find some fixtures to tie it together. If anyone can suggest anything I'd be really grateful.
I need two parts
i.) I've two flat pieces of wood 0.5x0.5m in size and I could really do with a fixture so that one can rotate in a stable manner wrt the other piece, a bit like a square lazy suzanne.
ii.) I've a 20mm thick piece of wood (ash) but I need to force another piece of wood away from it at right angles. I was planning on having something like a hollow screw with a screw thread on the outside to fix it into the 20mm piece of wood, and a inside thread holding a long threaded piece of metal screw thread. On the other end I need something that can fix onto the threaded bar, but freely rotate so it can be fixed into the other piece of wood. I could then put a knob on the other side which could be used to force the two pieces of wood apart.
Really any suggestions would be gratefully received, I've searched everywhere in Sheffield.
