Had to smile this morning to read that Google had applied for a patent for their driverless car for a device that would recognise when a cyclist was making a hand signal and so control the car accordingly.

Only one problem.

When did you last see a cyclist giving a hand-signal ? :D

I give hand signals all the time when cycling(well, not actually all the time, but when I intend to turn left or right).
But I'm one of those old-fashioned souls who actually indicates before turning right or left when I'm driving a car, so probably irelevant.

:D I know what you mean. Round our way the default seems to be to indicate after the turn has been executed (if at all!)

I always give hand signals when cycling.

The most common ones are the traditional 1 or 2 fingered salute to the a*se hole drivers that try to knock me off!
