I am quite new to woodworking but am attempting to make some cupboards and shelves for our living room. If this goes well I am planning on making my own kitchen cabinets etc. However, I have am struggling to find local wood supplier that can provide me with good quality well dried unplanned oak and tulipwood timber. Anyone have any good suggestions?

Also, is it worth investing in a festool domino if I am planing on making lots of cupboards etc?

cheers
Keith

It's a 60 mile round trip but you may find a visit to http://www.surreytimbers.co.uk worthwhile.

IMO definitely yes, and a TS55

Thanks for that pcb1962 I work near there so will have look. Yes the TS55 is high up on my tool wish list as well!

For what you're doing, you'll find the parallel guide set very useful, too. Brilliant accessory for the TS. Might seem a bit pricey at first, but I think they're worth it in the end.

Hello Keith,

The best / only timber yard in Reading is Arnold Lavers, they are down the end of the Basingstoke Road and have massive stocks of most timbers.
I have been in there quite a few times and they will let you go through the stacks - after all you will pay the same for rubbish as you do for best.
Pay them a visit and I am sure you will be amazed at the stock they hold.
