Novice Turner -I have a lot of nice 2 inch wide wood/boards gathering dust in the workshop which i would like to use for practice before i go out and purchase lots of nice blanks, what are the rules about glueing wood together and then turning it. i spotted a guy at a craft stall selling turned goblets which looked like they had a 3 mm mahogany strip running down them can you glue say two strips of thin material between two pieces of wood to get a stripe/cross effect on a bowl. Apologies if i have asked a daft question

The rules are fairly simple, glue the bits together and start turning :D

Seriously, it is that simple. Ordinary PVA is fine. Here is one I made earlier.
