I asked a similar question a couple of days ago for glueing up 2 garden gates. Cascamite was recommended the most followed by Titebond 3 and PU.

I'm one that's used Titebond 3 on outdoor stuff like planters before and I have always found it to be fine. I've never tried cascamite though so I can't do a comparison for you.

Outdoor stuff I'd avoid glue altogether. Use stainless/brass/galvanised nuts bolts screws nails.

Out door stuff sees the most extremes of moisture difference throughout the seasons and planters are the very worst for the extremes. Glue can and does work as long as the construction is well thought through. Cascamite is very easy to use with long open times, Tritebind 3 is also good, but much shorter opening time and the colour shows on the glue line. (Cascamite or another trade name is Polymite dries glass clear)

However as Jacob said mechanical fixation is the best, nails being the best overall IMO as they allow the wood to move.

I used polyurethane glue before on a bench laminated leg (the bench in my image to the left) because that's what Norm used on his New Yankee Workshop on outdoor stuff. Never again, it was effing useless!!! The joints have all opened up. I then used the exterior Titebond. No problems, planters have been out three years in all seasons and no signs of any de-lamination.
