Hi all,
Off the bat, don't string me up #-o bit i'm experimenting
The 'Guru's' say, "Never use wood glue".....what does Brian do :?:
Straight in to it!
A small thing board.
Mixed:
Wood glue &white primer.
Wood glue & mahogany stain.
Wood glue with both to get lighter brown.
Ok, Part one completed.
Could it work?
We know that eventually it will dry.
Colours light..for now.

The colours change diametrically (have to look up that word! and how to pronounce it!) lost the shine.
But look at the texture!!!

have you got any sheet material? may help with the cupping.

also, may be necessary to apply a coat of the same to the reverse of the board to balance it out- you are effectively soaking one side in water. Alternatively, whilst experimenting, try laying it on a damp cloth whilst it dries.

Thjx Marcros,
Great advice mate =D>
Get the evening it up both sides.
I/we should see in the morn with the thicker board changes it (as I planed and thickness it perfect b4 hand)
All good skills for the help. =D>

hi bri, try cutting kerfs in the back side, it may help prevent cupping, I'd recommend plywood for next time, even hardboard is pretty good once primed, I used to paint onto white primed hardboard when I was an art student, very cost effective as well. Looks like you've had some fun :D

the second board is 18mm pine...thought I put it on the plywood ones I cut.. #-o #-o
i'll white prime them, as ive got the primer lol.
Aye surely am having fun...taking notes etc.
Now looking at wood glue for sealing the wood b4 I epoxy resin it...trying to minimize gassing when the resins start to cure..
I like how the wood glue turns from white to well clear..lol

Carrying on from yesterday.

Bri, do the bends actually matter? I personally consider the corrugations as part of your artistic endeavour. On the other hand, are you intending by this to be fitted in a frame, then..."bulwarks!"

Arhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! took me ages typing the words out and the picture then went onto preview...and it didn't save my work.
So start again.
This is the 'Simplified' version.
Think here, I've milked the whole experiment, if you know what I mean?
Theres only so many more boards that have scibbles n stuff all over I can churn out...BASICALLY a mess on a board if I'm truthful! my Artist sister disagrees lol.
heres the 2nd & 3rd one cured.
2nd.
