Hi all, I've just been to the local glass shop to get a quote for a small table top 360*360 and was surprised at the cost - £50 or £70 if I don't want any green tint. It's a small highstreet shop so I reckon I get get it cheaper elsewhere. Does anyone know of a retailer in the london area who might do a better price?

I paid less than £100 for 2 4.5ft x 4ft sheets of 6mm? tempered glass in Cornwall so you should be able to get it cheaper. From experience glass supplier prices vary hugely.

Might also be worth looking on ebay as I recently picked up a 1970s coffee table with a black glass top for £10. If you find something of the right size just pinch the glass from it and scrap the rest.

To avoid green tint you need to ask for "Low Iron Glass" which is a lot more expensive than standard glass but does look good. I woul suggest looking up glass proseesors who would thoughen it as well.
